Tough Universal Handset Interface for Patient Handling Equipment

Arjo Huntleigh are world leaders in integrated solutions for the care of people with reduced mobility and related conditions. They supply products for patient handling and hygiene, medical beds and therapeutic surfaces. They are powered and require a hand held interface for their control by nurses and carers. Arjo used proprietary handsets which were susceptible to damage and failure, GBD were asked to design and develop the manufacturing for a new handset that would meet corporate aims and be suitable all products

Key Design Objectives

- Suitable for one hand operation by either hand.

- Suitable for use on all products with a minimum of change.

- Design to be elegant and distinctive to compliment Arjo products.

- Only symbols to be used to communicate switch function.

- To be cost savings when replacing proprietary handsets.

- Integral hanger for storage that is very resistant to damage.

- To be tough and durable for the intended use and will not crack if dropped or trod on.

- Design to be IP67.
