Development of a cutting-edge computer vision system designed to monitor, audit and sort waste at scale within recycling facilities worldwide.
The existing enclosure was rugged and reliable but overly large, heavy, and costly to manufacture. Its weight made it ergonomically difficult to install and maintain over conveyor belts, and the internal layout was inefficient, leading to unnecessary bulk. Greyparrot needed a more compact, modular, and cost-effective enclosure solution without compromising durability or environmental protection.
Working with the Greyparrot team, GBD led phased development across two product generations. For the existing enclosure, GBD analysed design limits, proposed internal improvements, and developed spatial CAD layouts and refined concepts. For the new design, they reduced size, weight, and cost, improved layout robustness, added flexible connector support, and created branded transit packaging. GBD also prepared full CAD packs, supported tooling, supplier engagement, and regulatory approval.
The resulting enclosure is compact, durable, and optimised for high-performance use in industrial environments. Designed for ease of manufacture, install, and transport, while maintaining environmental protection and structural integrity. GBD developed custom transit packaging and led the transition to full production.
